“Be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins; and you shall receive the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, whomever the Lord our God shall call.” – Acts 2:38
In the Catholic Church, baptism is a sacrament of initiation that symbolizes spiritual rebirth and entry into the Christian community. It cleanses original sin, imparts sanctifying grace, and establishes a covenantal relationship with God. Baptism marks the individual’s adoption as a child of God, unites them with Christ’s death and resurrection, and signifies the start of a lifelong journey of faith and discipleship. It is both a personal commitment to God and a communal act of faith, rooted in Jesus’ command to “make disciples of all nations” through baptism (Matthew 28:19).
